A while back when I read a quote from a speech by Representative Andrew Clyde of Georgia, which he gave on the floor the House during the debate on legislation to form a January 6th Commission, I got a bit perturbed. The quote read as follows.
“There was no insurrection, and to call it an insurrection, in my opinion, is a bold-faced lie. Watching the TV footage of those who entered the Capitol and walked through Statuary Hall showed people in an orderly fashion staying between the stanchions and ropes taking videos and pictures. You know, if you didn’t know the TV footage was a video from Jan. 6, you’d actually think it was a normal tourist visit.”’
I decided that Clyde needed some feedback, so I posted a message on his Facebook page calling him out for his lies and referring to him as coward with no morals who has continually put political ambition above country and our democracy. Imagine my surprise when I received an email from his office which was apparently sent to his campaign donors and admirers. It praised Clyde’s pro-Trump stances on every issue. I took that opportunity to respond to his email, text below. Because I knew that the chances that Clyde will ever lay eyes on my reply were slim and none, I also left a postscript for the staff member who will probably read it.
“You, Andrew Clyde, are a prime example of the type of politician who makes a dreadful leader. You were in the Capitol Building January 6th helping to barricade the doors to keep those so-called “tourists” out because you feared for your life. You know what happened, you were there. You know who how violent the mob was, yet you are a gutless zero who pretends otherwise because you believe that it is in your political best interests to brown nose Trump and the worst of his followers.
You have put those selfish interests above that of our country, above our very democracy. These are not forgivable offenses. They display for all to see the ugliness of your soul. You should grow a set and attempt to redeem yourself, but you won’t. Your yellow streak runs deep and strong and you are incapable of being anything but the gutless coward that you are.
As a veteran of the Vietnam War I can say with absolute certainty that I wouldn’t want you in my foxhole or covering my back. In fact I wouldn’t want a coward like you within a hundred miles of my position. However, the soldiers of today don’t have to worry about that possibility, do they? If there were a draft, like your idol Trump you would pull every string you could find to keep from serving, because that’s what cowards do.
Please take me off of your distribution list; I am not one of Trump’s loving suck up followers and your lies stink up my inbox.

PS: HEY STAFF MEMBER WHO IS READING THIS – Representative Clyde will never see this email, right? You wouldn’t dare show it to him, and I don’t blame you. But ask yourself this, how can you continue to live with yourself working for a man like Andrew Clyde?
