Several people have asked me if there was some way they can be notified by emails when I publish new articles on my blog, Cajun Comments. I recently set up the blog to make the process of setting up such email notifications easier. (Someone please let me know if this does or does not work. As the blog administrator I can’t check out the procedures myself because I get a different view of the blog contents.)  Just follow the easy instructions below (It would probably be best to read through the instructions once before beginning first):

First you will need to register as a user of my blog site:

• First you will need to register as a blog user. In the column to the right of this article under the word “Meta” you will see the word “Register” – click on that word.
• On the new web page fill in the user name you want to use and the email address where you want the emailed notifications of new blog posts to be sent. Then click on the block with the word “Register”.
• You should be sent an email which is to be used to set up your password and complete the registration process. Follow the instructions on the email.

Note: Being a registered user also allows you to make comments about blog posts.

Once you have completed the registration process you need to set up the email notification:

• Return to the blog page by again clicking on the link http://www.cajunscomments.com/ if the system does not automatically return that web page after registration.
• Right below the word “Register” (on the right) you should see either the words “Log in” or “Log out”. If you see the words “Log out” you are logged into the blog and you can proceed to the next step below.  If you see the words “Log in” click there and log in using your user name and your new pass word; then proceed to the next step.
• Scroll down to the bottom of the article until you see a box with the words “Notify me of new posts by email”. Click on the box.  When a check mark appears in the box you should be all set to be notified by email every time I post a new blog article.

Note: Another method of getting notifications is to use one of the tools that go out to your favorite sites and the fetch all new posts and either display them for you on a dashboard or send you email notifications.  Some of the most popular of these are Feedly, VisualPing, and PushOver.  There are many others.  I am not really familiar with any of these, but the seem to be fairly easy to use.
