The reason is that the the US and Great Britain now have the $90 Billion dollar contract to supply Australia with nuclear submarines, a contract that France companies lost. They are also PO’ed because the US, Britain and Australia entered into a defense against China in the South Pacific where France has not recently been a player, and they left France out.

French companies had a contract with Australia to supply the submarines, but the project was is way behind schedule and over budget. In addition the Australian government came to the conclusion that the contracted submarines weren’t sophisticated enough for their defense needs.

Of course the French say that the real reason they are ticked is because the weren’t told about the deal until right before the agreement was announced.  Ask your self, do you think that they would be in any happier had they known about the deal in advance.

France has recalled it’s ambassador to the United States for the first time in recent history. Why does the French government appear to be so concerned? That’s easy.  Emmanuel Macron is up for reelection soon and was alredy in political trouble.  He had to present a grand show of indignation to impress the French people prior to the election. 

But don’t worry.  France depends too much on the United States for trade and military defense to stay mad long.
