If you are interested in politics like me, you likely wonder how Donald Trump consistently manages to maintain the approval of approximately 40% of American voters given all of his outrageous statements, actions and Tweets. It just doesn’t seem possible that so many people can be so woefully naive and ignorant. Sure there are evangelicals who will voice approval for this totally unrepentant sinner as long as continues to mouth support for their causes and nominates ultraconservative Supreme Court Justices. There are also Republicans who will support any Republican politician unconditionally despite any reservations they might have otherwise. Others have their own selfish reasons for remaining on the Trump bandwagon. However, there are also far too many Americans who remain under Trump’s spell despite the fact that it is clear to us that their continued support of him is not in their best interests.
Of course since their only news sources are FOX News and conservative talking heads on radio and TV who repeat and reinforce Trump’s outrageous lies, they willingly believe that all of that misinformation and they are content to remain in the Trump camp. However, people have to be truly ignorant of the world around them to believe Trump’s outrageous lies no matter how many times they are repeated in that Republican/conservative echo chamber.
In addition, it isn’t enough to be ignorant. These Trump supporters have to be arrogant enough to believe that they have an accurate view of the world despite all of the evidence to the contrary that surrounds them and constantly begs for their attention. It is hard to believe that such ignorance and arrogance can exist in combination in so many human beings. But it does.
The following video clip is all of the proof you need that ignorance and arrogance does exist in combination in this country and I think I think you might also get chuckle when you view it. Jimmy Kimmel occasionally has a segment on his show called “Lie Witness News” and the following link is a video clip of the 2018 edition. Not only do the people interviewed display their amazing ignorance, but they are also arrogant enough to try to lie in order to cover up their ignorance.
