When Hilary Clinton stated that half of Donald Trump’s supporters are “deplorables” at a fundraiser, it created a huge storm in the media.  The next day she apologized saying, “”Last night I was ‘grossly generalistic,’ and that’s never a good idea. I regret saying ‘half’ — that was wrong”.  She went on to she was attempting to call out the “bigotry” in the Trump campaign.

Perhaps she was wrong; it is unlikely that half of all of Trump’s supporters were racist, sexist, homophobic and/or xenophobic, but certainly the vast majority of the racist, sexist, homophobic and/or xenophobic voters did support and vote for Trump.  And they still support him, he still their guy.  However, she should have more accurately stated that Donald Trump is a deplorable, and that hasn’t changed either.

My personal definition of a “deplorable” is a President who will not call out and condemn the beliefs and actions of the KKK, neo-Nazi, alt-right militias, and other white supremacist and hate groups marching on the campus of the University of Virginal because he doesn’t want to hurt the feeling of some of his best supporters.

When David Duke is interviewed on national TV and says, “We are determined to take our country back. We are going to fulfill the promises of Donald Trump” and Donald Trump does not repudiate those remarks in no uncertain term, he puts himself in the same category as Duke.  Trump is unquestionably a deplorable and any true Republican should be ashamed to admit he represents the party of Lincoln.

Addendum 8/15/17:

Today the President of the United States affirmed for everyone what we already knew:

1. Donald Trump is deplorable beyond redemption. When the President of the United States equates the counter protestors in Charlotte (most of whom were local people who justifiably were repulsed by the white supremacists demonstrating in their city) with Nazis and clansmen who marched through their streets shouting anti-Jewish and anti -black slogans, there is absolutely no other word to describe him but “deplorable”.  Only a bigot would give hate groups that kind of cover.  Given that his daughter and his precious son-in-law are both Jewish, the fact he had to be coerced into condemning neo-Nazis by name is totally unbelievable.  Today we saw the real Donald Trump, and the sight was past disgusting.
2. Donald Trump cares only about himself; the country be damned. Any sane person understands that what Donald Trump did today empowers Nazis, KKK members, right wing militias, skin heads, and other hate groups to step up their vile rhetoric and violent actions. “Look, the President is with us”.  These weren’t just dog whistles; Trump virtually endorsed these cancers in our society from behind the podium of the President of the United States.
3. Donald Trump cannot, and will not admit when has made a mistake. Obviously yesterday the public pressure from even leaders of his own party forced him to read the civil words from a teleprompter  that he should have said on day one of the Charlottesville tragedy, but having to do that made him mad and obviously gnawed at his gut last night. When he couldn’t stand it anymore, his warped personality forced him to abandon his own self interests to tell the world that he believed he was right all along.  I don’t have to tell you what a danger the inability of a President to admit to himself that he made a mistake is for our country.
4. Today, Donald Trump proved beyond an shadow of a doubt that no one, not aids, not highly placed advisors, not even his family can prevent him from hitting back when he is challenged of criticized, regardless of the circumstances. That kind of personality with the power of the Commander in Chief is a war looking for a place to happen.

Until recently I didn’t take the seriously those among us who called for Donald Trump to be removed from office using the procedures provided in the 25^th Amendment of the US Constitution.  But enough is enough!  We can no longer wait patiently until he is impeached.  In so many ways Donald Trump has demonstrated repeatedly that he is unfit mentally and emotionally to lead this country.  I didn’t serve four and half years in the armed services and my uncle didn’t die in fighting the Nazis in World War II before I was born to see the President of the United States coddle and provide cover for hate groups.  And I cannot any longer tolerate my country being reduced to a laughing stock in the eyes to the rest of the world.  This is not who we are!

This is no longer about politics. This is no longer about conservatives and liberals.  This is about a threat to our way of life and values which all Americans should hold dear! Donald Trump must be removed from office now or totally reduced to a loudmouth figurehead by our Congress and justice system until the country can be rid of him.
