Recently on his Fox network show Tucker Carlson sounded like a Russian propaganda minister, “Why is it disloyal to side with Russia but loyal to side with Ukraine?” Carlson claimed that Vladimir Putin just “wants to keep his western border secure and it’s why it makes sense for the Russian president to oppose Ukraine joining NATO.”  In my mind I think that was even worse than Trump recently calling Putin “smart” for declaring the separatist Ukrainian provinces to be independent countries.

Carlson obvious cared nothing about the fact that at the time Russia, essentially a dictatorship, was obviously planning to invade a sovereign democratic country which would upend one of the founding principals of international law.  Of course this shouldn’t be surprising since Carlson has already shown to have a soft spot for autocratic leaders such as Trump and President Erdogan of Turkey and seems to think that his side can only win if our democracy is destroyed.

However, now that Putin has ordered his armed forces to commence missile attacks against Ukrainian military targets killing hundreds and his tanks are flowing across Ukraine’s border, what is Tucker going to say now?  He has already been accused by conservative Republican leaders of going to far. Will he back off now or will he confirm that he is a traitor to democracy.
