Why Do About Half of the Voters Say They Will Vote For A Would Be Dictator

One problem I see is that people see evidence of inflation everyday.  Average wages have actually increased more than inflation, but they erroneously take credit for their raises while blaming the administration for inflation.  They are also to often too ignorant to understand that the US economy has fared better after the pandemic than just about every other country in the world and that  we have reduced inflation quicker.

What is even more amazing is that half of the population is willing to vote for a narcissistic want to be dictator whose stated policies would again raise the price of goods and destroy the economy without creating the additional manufacturing jobs he promises for many, many years, and in far too many cases probably never.

I see the the vote for a Trump.as follows: ~25% to 30% who hate the government and love that Trump is a disruptive asshole who will bring it to it knees, 10% to 15% who are establishment Republicans and independent conservatives who would vote for the devil if he were the Republican nominee, and the rest who have been paying absolutely no attention and have no clue what Trump is capable of and/or men so insecure in their masculinity that they can’t vote for a women.

I love the way Democrats coalesced around Harris almost immediately after Biden bowed out, but I sometimes wonder if it wouldn’t have been better to have nominated a popular male governor not closely associated with the Biden administration.  Then the Democratic nominee would have not had to deal with the inevitable prejudices faced by female candidates, and he could have claimed to have made a complete break with the Biden administration’s economic problems.  On the other hand, choosing such a candidate from among many contenders would have been a long and divisive process leaving virtually no time to properly campaign.

That is not to say Harris wasn’t the best candidate we could nominated, she probably was. Now we have to get out our vote, especially in the six battleground states, and get her elected.
