Putin Has a New Biggest Fan

In February of 2022, right after Russia invaded Ukraine, Tommy Tuberville stated: “As we’ve seen from Putin’s aggression, strongly-worded statements don’t stop wars.  Rather than discuss a diplomatic resolution, Putin chose to invade Ukraine and test world order. His actions must be met with a tough and targeted response.”

He went went on to say, “For 80 years, Americans have sacrificed to bring security and peace to the European continent. . . The United States should support Ukraine and provide assistance to Ukraine’s military through weapons and funding for emergency equipment while leveling tough and targeted sanctions to halt Russian escalations and cripple Russia’s economy. The incremental sanctions issued by President Biden today are a weak response – the time to have imposed harsh sanctions was yesterday. Allies and adversaries across the globe are watching and they must be left with no doubt about our strength and resolve.  . . . I call on my colleagues in the U.S. Senate and our allies to ensure Russia pays a heavy price for Putin’s aggression.”

Lately however Tuberville has evidently had his finger in the air, sensing which way the Trump wind is blowing.  Recently, after voting against funding for Ukraine he said this, “I haven’t voted for a dime for Ukraine and I won’t start now.  I spent Super Bowl Sunday stuck in our nation’s capital, trying to prevent Democrats, along with some of my Republican colleagues, from giving away $60 billion of of you tax dollars. I’ll stay in D.C. until hell freezes over if it means stopping the bipartisan Forever War Caucus from printing another $60 billion to prolong a war that cannot be won.”

Continuing on that vein in an interview Tuberville said, “They (Ukraine) can’t win.  Half the country’s (the people of Ukraine) like we are: They don’t even know what war is going on. Trump will have it over in a matter of weeks when he gets elected.”  (Apparently Tuberville is blissfully unaware that Ukraine has sustained over $100 billion in damages and endured over 350,000 casualties in the war.  Even people living under rocks know that a war is raging in their country.)

Now according to Tuberville it’s no longer Putin’s aggression that is responsible his invasion of Ukraine; it’s our fault. “We forced this issue.  We kept forcing NATO all the way to Eastern Europe, and Putin just got tired of it. He said, ‘Listen, I do not want missiles on my border from the United States. It’d be like Russia coming to Mexico and putting missiles in Mexico. I can understand what he’s (Putin) talking about.”

Tuberville has also come up with a new (dumb) reason why Putin wants to annex parts of Ukraine: “He can’t feed his people. It’s a communist country, so he can’t feed his people, so they need more farmland.”  (Of course Russia is no longer a communist country. It is a dictator ship still pretending to be a democracy.  Russia have ranks 3rd in the world in usable farmland and only 9th in population. In 2023 Russia has exported gains and other food products worth $43 billion.  And it can’t feed its own people?)

On X, formally Twitter, Tuberville was complementary of Putin and essentially called our NATO allies liars.  “You can tell Putin’s on top of his game. One thing he said that, it really rung a bell, is the propaganda media machine over here, they (our NATO allies) sell anything they possibly can to go after Russia,”

Again on Tuberville’s X account, “Last night’s @TuckerCarlson’s interview with Putin shows that Russia is open to a peace agreement, while it is DC warmongers who want to prolong the war.”  Yes Tommy, Putin is open to negation.  However, he and his mouthpieces have made it clear he is only open to negations which will result in total Russian control of its illegally annexed Ukrainian provinces, a change of administration in Kiev to one approved by Putin, and the complete elimination of Ukraine’s military.  In other words Putin in interested in only a total Russian victory and making Ukraine a Russian controlled county.  Putin will only be satisfied with total capitulation by Ukraine and NATO.

But what can we expect from a savant idiot who only talent is football and who was essentially fired from is last coaching job. There’s a reason why his colleagues consider Tuberville as the dumbest Senator in Washington.
