What Tuberville Said about IVF Availability in Alabama

It’s always interesting when the dumbest Senator in Washington gives his opinion on any new subject before he has been properly instructed on what to say by his staff. However, in an impromptu interview yesterday Tuberville set a new standard for cluelessness by a US Senator.

When  CCN reporter asked him for his reaction to the Supreme Court of Alabama designating embryos as children, Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville said, “Yep, I was all for it.  We need to have more kids. We need to have the opportunity to do that, and this I think is the right thing to do.

The reporter reminded him that IVF (in vitro fertilization) allows people to have more children and that IVF procedures are paused in Alabama. Then she asked him if he was concerned that this was going to have an impact on people who were trying to have kids, Tuberville answered: “Well, that’s for another conversation.  We need to have, we need more kids.  We need people to have the opportunity to have more kids.”

Then another reporter asked the Senator, “What do you say to the women in Alabama that no longer have have access to IVF, and will not as a result of this ruling?  What do you say to them? Obviously finally realizing he had been talking about some he knew nothing about, Tuberville replied, “Well, that, that’s a hard one.  It really is, it’s a real hard one. Because you want people to have that opportunity.  And it was what I was telling her, we need more kids.”

Then he walked away.
